Drive-In Racking Project – Case Study

Drive-In Racking System

Location: Tyne & Wear

JOG Consultants were approached by a firm based on a recommendation from another client, who were planning to move to more suitable premises in the Gateshead area of North East England. We were asked to provide a proposal to fully maximum storage in their new warehouse with a minimum allowance of 700 pallet locations.

Based on their requirements we designed a suitable 6.5m high drive in racking systems to fully utilise the warehouse height. Through careful planning by an extremely experienced project manager we were able to provide a proposal with three areas of drive in racking each holding; 150 pallets, 312 pallets and 288 pallets, with a row of standard pallet racking this provided a total of 780 pallet locations, nearly twice as much as proposed by a competitor. JOG Consultants was awarded the contract over other local Newcastle based firms based on a highly competitive project budget cost and a highly extensive proposal.

Once given the green light we ordered the drive in racking system through one of our highly competitive and quality assured racking manufacturers. Within weeks we had the racking delivered to Tyneside and installers on site to being the tight schedule installation. Our chosen drive in racking system  was installed in good time and although we were originally let down by our guide rail manufacturer our back up manufacturer supplied a matching product within days allowing the project to finish on time and budget.
